“…a military occupation established around goals of annexation of the occupied lands and exploitation of the people who live there, rationalized by religious dogma, and codified in the occupier’s own laws, is clearly an illegal occupation.

Egypt backs Palestinian position on settlements
“CAIRO — Egypt backed the Palestinians’ refusal to negotiate with Israel as long as it continues to build West Bank settlements, even as officials urged Sunday for continued diplomacy to salvage the month-old talks.”
“Following Mitchell’s meeting with Mubarak, Egypt’s foreign minister said the Palestinian position is understandable. ‘We understand the Palestinian position which calls for setting the appropriate environment and circumstances for negotiations to take place and continue,’ Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit said. ‘The current conditions are not favorable.’ Aboul Gheit said the focus now should be on continued U.S. and international efforts to pressure Israel into agreeing to extending the settlement moratorium.”

Israel said Maguire is banned because she has twice tried to break through Israel’s naval embargo of Gaza. Israelis, Palestinians signal deal on settlements
“Palestinian negotiator Nabil Shaath told The Associated Press Thursday that the Palestinians accepted a U.S. proposal for a 60-day extension to the Israel settlement slowdown, with the idea that final borders between Israel and a Palestinian state be negotiated during that time. If borders are set, Israel could then resume construction on all territories it expects to keep, while halting construction on Palestinian lands.”
“Netanyahu has been sounding out key Cabinet members in recent days on extending the settlement restrictions, which halted new housing starts while allowing pre-existing construction to continue. But he has run into stiff opposition from pro-settlement ministers.”
“Pro-settlement” on this issue is just another way of saying “militant extremists.” Fanaticism on our planet is reaching the end of its extremist rope, not just politically but in all areas of human life. Jewish-Arab relations in Israel hit boiling point
“Relations between Israel’s Jewish majority and its Arab minority have never been warm, but they appear to have hit a new low that has activists on both sides worried the troubled relationship is beyond repair.”
“Such views have fueled Jewish anxiety, which in turn has led to support for hard-line politicians like Lieberman, said Amnon Beeri-Sulitzeanu, co-director of the Abraham Fund, a Jewish-Arab organization seeks to promote coexistence. Beeri-Sulitzeanu said although violence is down from 10 years ago, the situation is far more dangerous because the push to isolate the community was being led by politicians, elected community officials and religious leaders — not by rabble rousers.
“What we are seeing is unprecedented,” Beeri-Sulitzeanu said, adding there is “racism and alienation and a very coordinated attempt to marginalize and push the Arab community to the corner.”

Netanyahu’s rejection of Obama’s 1967 border deal leaves peace talks in tatters (Photo: Jim Young/Reuters) May 21, 2011
“Senior Palestinian officials declared peace negotiations with Israel were “pointless” after the Israeli prime minister Netanyahu, rejected Barack Obama”s call to base border talks on the pre-1967 war lines.”
“Amid growing evidence of a deepening crisis in the stalled peace process, Fatah officials also indicated that they would defy Obama’s calls not to seek UN recognition of Palestine as an independent state – a move that the US president has warned against following Fatah’s reconciliation with the Islamic militant organisation Hamas.”
How can any American president claim fairness in negotiations when no speech on Israel goes without the line, “our unshakeable support” for one side? That is the thumb on the screw. As I write this, I am listening to Netanyahu address our American congress. Netanyahu and Obama both have pumped up how Democratic our two countries are. Not! Until America and Israel follow the RULE OF LAW by dealing with suspected “enemies” through the COURT SYSTEM, by trial and accountability, not by assassinating them (Gaza Flotilla massacre, OBL demise, Mossad Dubai killing ) we will never see true Democracy – Innocent Until PROVEN guilty by a jury of peers. Congress to Palestinians: Drop Dead!
“So why was (Netanyahu) invited to address a rare joint meeting?
“He was invited because the new Republican leadership of the House of Representatives wanted to demonstrate, loudly and clearly, that Congress will not support President Barack Obama in the event that he tries to achieve an Israeli-Palestinian agreement. “
“Congress cheered and cheered and, when Netanyahu was finished, they climbed over each other to touch the hem of his garment.”
“It was as if Congress thought that no Palestinians or other Arabs (or Muslims) would be watching. It was as if it believes that it can shout its lungs out for Netanyahu (and secure those campaign contributions from AIPAC supporters), without any consequences to U.S. policy and national interests in the Arab world or, for that matter, in the diplomatic community.”
“But Congress is wrong. The message it sent to the Middle East, to the whole world, in fact, was that Palestinians cannot count on the United States to ever play the role of “honest broker” between Israel and the Palestinians. Even if President Obama was inclined to, Congress would stop him. And AIPAC, using its leverage, would hold Obama’s feet to the fire, too. As far as Congress is concerned, Palestinians do not exist. They have no rights — to a state least of all.”
I cannot express in words the embarrassment and anger I felt when I watched my American Congress grovel over Netanyahu. This is NOT the United States of Israel and I am deeply offended by his address.

Are Palestinian children less worthy? “What is it about Jewish and Arab children that privileges the first and spurns the second in the speeches of President Barack Obama, let alone in the Western media more generally? Are Jewish children smarter, prettier, whiter? Are they deserving of sympathy and solidarity, denied to Arab children, because they are innocent and unsullied by the guilt of their parents, themselves often referred to as ‘the children of Israel’? Or, is it that Arab children are dangerous, threatening, guilty, even dark and ugly, a situation that can only lead to Arabopaedophobia – the Western fear of Arab children?”

Slouching toward theocracy: Tehran and Tel Aviv may have something in common
“If the Israeli right’s newly proposed Basic Law to define Israel as a Jewish state does become law, they will certainly have the Iranian model to crib off of in making civil society conform to religious orthodoxy. Not that the Israeli right needs any pointers: the Basic Law is a witch’s brew of frightening policy proposals, but its key tenet can be boiled down to this: from this moment on, preserving Israel’s ‘Jewish character’ trumps Democracy. “
“With the enshrinement of “Jewishness” in a Basic Law (and so far there’s every indication the bill will pass), Israel is on course to take another giant step toward theocracy. So what will happen to all those Israelis who would rather not conform to the right’s (and it’s allied rabbinical legal reviewers‘) position, be they Muslims, Christians, Druzes – or even non-orthodox Jews?”
The Christian far-right in America is also making a frantic push to turn our country into a Christian theocracy (Rick Perry: “”There is hope for America… . It lies in heaven, and we will find it on our knees.” ). There isn’t just a global economic coup d’etat being attempted in our world; there is an attempt by fanatical religious groups who truly believe that they are paving the way for “Armeggedon” and “God’s” return to earth by usurping democracy and installing their own “hosts.” They have so twisted and contorted their ancient texts. My only consolation is having a sense that they will fail miserably in the end and become embarrassingly humbled when a “grown-up influence” hits the scene and sets all records straight. Already, some slight indication of a brick beginning to crumble:

“Leahy, who heads the Senate Appropriations Committee’s sub-committee on foreign operations, was the principle sponsor of a 1997 bill prohibiting the United States from providing military assistance or funding to foreign military units suspected of human rights abuses or war crimes. The law also stipulates that the U.S. Defense Department screen foreign officers and soldiers who come to the United States for training for this purpose. Leahy wants the new clause to become a part of the U.S. foreign assistance legislation for 2012, placing restrictions on military assistance to Israel, particularly to those three units.”

The Obama administration surely has a far more nuanced position but is terrified at the prospect of challenging the lobby as it faces a tough re-election campaign.”
Our elected officials, especially our presidents, have been far more concerned about pleasing their lobbying benefactors to get elected/re-elected than listening to our own citizens. “I went public for two reasons: one was to expose Israel’s propaganda campaign in this country against Iran. But just as importantly, I wanted Americans to know why Shamai Leibowitz did what he did. I wanted them to know that not only was he a whistleblower, a profile in courage, but that he is a person of conscience, who faced the full force of the US government during his prosecution. I wanted the world to know Shamai was a sacrificial victim who deserved to be honored rather than imprisoned.”

Aid To Israel No Longer A Sacred Cow
“Aid to Israel is virtually the only program, domestic or foreign, that is exempt from every budget-cutting proposal pending in Congress. No matter that our own military is facing major cuts along with Medicare, cancer research and hundreds of other programs, Israel’s friends in Congress in both parties make sure that aid to Israel is protected at current levels.”
“Maybe, just maybe, progressives (and maybe even conservatives) will now demand that their legislators tell them just why they apply the sledgehammer to programs that affect impoverished Americans while falling all over themselves to continue giving billions to a prosperous Israel.”
Bingo!

Saudi royal offers $900,000 reward for capture of Israeli soldiers
“RIYADH – A Saudi royal offered a $900,000 reward to anyone who captures an Israeli soldier, on Saturday. Prince Khaled bin Talal, the brother of business tycoon and Fox News co-owner Walid bin Talal, told the Saudi-based broadcaster Al Daleel that the captive would then be released in exchange for Arabs held in Israeli prisons.”
Saudi Arabia and Israel have long spouted what they have in common—”hating” Iran. Either this news signals a breakdown in that commonality, or it signals a staged attempt to make it appear that way in order to preserve “something.” Don’t know what that “something” is though—yet.

New Details on Iran Don’t Change the Game
“A new report on Iran’s nuclear capability from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) does not contain any startling new developments, but already it has some conservatives in the U.S. and Israel beating the drums for war.”
Three countries who NEVER signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty – it’s not about nuclear weapons; its about real estate:
India: Up to 100 nuclear warheads.
Israel: Between 75 to 200 nuclear warheads.
Pakistan: Between 70 to 90 nuclear warheads.

UK military steps up plans for Iran attack amid fresh nuclear fears
“The Ministry of Defence believes the US may decide to fast-forward plans for targeted missile strikes at some key Iranian facilities. British officials say that if Washington presses ahead it will seek, and receive, UK military help for any mission, despite some deep reservations within the coalition government.”
“The Guardian has spoken to a number of Whitehall and defence officials over recent weeks who said Iran was once again becoming the focus of diplomatic concern after the revolution in Libya. They made clear that Barack Obama, has no wish to embark on a new and provocative military venture before next November’s presidential election.”
Our president is bought and sold. I tell you true, people, if UK/US/Israel embark on yet another illegal war, especially for the sake of the Zionists of Israel, the current global protests will look like (forgive the pun) a day in the park compared to the millions globally who will be beating at the doors of their respective Capitol buildings.

Yet another sign that religious extremists, whether Jewish, Christian, Islamic or whatever, are in their death throes – patriarchy is finally, FINALLY dying on this planet. Soon, we will learn the Truth – the whole Truth – about why extremist religious factions have carried on a “war on women” for thousands of years. It will be stunning but it will be cathartic as well.

Israel parliament approves law on top court judges
“JERUSALEM – Israeli lawmakers have pushed ahead contentious legislation that critics say undermines the independence of the country’s Supreme Court and is part of a broader assault by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government on Israel’s democracy.”
“President Shimon Peres, who usually refrains from commenting on political matters, warned on Monday that undermining judiciary independence ‘is liable to wreak historic political damage on any country, including Israel.’ “
This is what desperation looks like. Democracy is being attacked globally. Consider it a Law of Nature that the more TPTB attempt to bend and twist Human Nature to its own ends, the more Mother Nature (along with her ally “The Universe”), will cut off the oxygen to these Cancerous Zones, not according to man-made borders but by identifying “red zones” of incredibly negative energy, to neutralize the oppressors, who are even now in their death throes.

Netanyahu’s bureau chief to resign over harassment scandal
“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bureau chief, Natan Eshel, will resign from public service until the end of the month, a plea deal indicated on Sunday, following Eshel’s alleged harassment of a female subordinate. “

For first time, Civil Administration rejects government plan to legalize West Bank outpost
“In an unprecedented move, the Civil Administration’s zoning committee has rejected a government proposal to legalize the West Bank outpost of Sansana, saying there is no justification for a new settlement in the area because it is possible to build within existing ones. The decision is expected to have major implications for government efforts to legalize other unauthorized outposts. “
“The decision is expected to significantly complicate government efforts to legalize other outposts, because the most common way of doing so is to annex them to an existing settlement, thereby avoiding the need to officially establish a new one. “

State comptroller secretly quizzed Netanyahu in ‘Bibi-Tours’ probe
“This is the first time Netanyahu has been questioned in the so-called Bibi Tours probe, which began around 11 months ago amid allegations that he had traveled at the expense of businessmen and donors, that some of his trips had been double-billed and that he had illegally obtained campaign funds. “
“In recent months the comptroller interviewed several of Netanyahu’s former advisers and aides who had worked with him in the past 10 years during his terms as finance minister and opposition leader. The aides and advisers testified about the ways Benjamin and Sara Netanyahu’s luxury trips abroad were financed, how the money was transferred and how the couple’s expenses for their flights and luxury hotels were covered.”

Nobel Laureate Grass Attacks Israel in New Poem
“In a poem that has drawn angry reactions in Germany, Nobel Prize-winning author Günter Grass has published a new poem criticizing Israel’s policies against Iran. Historically, Grass has been outspoken in his political views, but many believe the author has now broken a taboo. “
” ‘Why did I wait until now at this advanced age and with the last bit of ink to say: The nuclear power Israel is endangering a world peace that is already fragile?‘ Grass writes in the poem. The 84 year old also criticizes the planned delivery of submarines ‘from my country’ to Israel, a reference to Germany’s plan to deliver Dolphin-class submarines to Israel that are capable of carrying nuclear-armed missiles. At the same time, Grass also expresses his solidarity with Israel.
Why is the obvious such an outrage? Isn’t it one huge “taboo” that needs to be broken and allowed to drain so it can begin to heal?

Documentary By Ronen Berelovich, an ex-Israeli soldier
From the author: “I have recently finished an independent documentary, The Zionist Story, in which I aim to present not just the history of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, but also the core reason for it: the Zionist ideology, its goals (past and present) and its firm grip not only on Israeli society, but also, increasingly, on the perception of Middle East issues in Western democracies.”“These concepts have already been demonstrated in the excellent Occupation 101 documentary made by Abdallah Omeish and Sufyan Omeish, but in my documentary I approach the subject from the perspective of an Israeli, ex-reserve soldier and someone who has spent his entire life in the shadow of Zionism.”
