Two congressmen join drumbeat against Holder as contempt proceedings gear up
“There are now 110 cosponsors of Gosar’s resolution. A total of 127 House members have demanded Holder’s resignation, signed Gosar’s resolution. or both. Three U.S. senators, two sitting governors and presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney have also called on Holder to step down.”

05/03/12 The Hill: Rep. Issa circulates contempt resolution against AG Eric Holder
“Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) has circulated a draft copy of a resolution that would hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. “
” ‘The Justice Department’s failure to respond appropriately to the allegations of whistleblowers and to cooperate with congressional oversight has crossed the line of appropriate conduct for a government agency,’ reads a 17-page memo attached to the draft copy of the resolution on contempt circulated to members.”
Could be a sign here that the first political domino is about to fall?

Clues Put FBI Informant at the Apex of Fast and Furious Scandal
“…public records and media reports reveal that the trail of weapons that reportedly helped Maruffo unleash a bloody war against the rival Juarez drug organization for control of the market leads, at least in part, back to the doorstep of US law enforcement agencies, principally the FBI and ATF, through the contortions of the US-sanctioned gun-running operation known as Fast and Furious.”
“For now, though, we will have to be satisfied with the clues we can piece together from the public-record trail, all pointing to yet another chapter of US complicity in murder in Latin America to advance classified national interests, which, in this era, all too often are cloaked in the empty rhetoric of the war on drugs.”

Robert F. Kennedy’s Daughter Nearly Meets Tragic Fate at Drug-War Checkpoint
“A squad of heavily armed Mexican soldiers this past weekend accosted Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy, while she and her 14-year-old daughter were traveling in southwestern Mexico to attend Easter Sunday mass.”
“Kennedy and her teenage daughter that day, on the road to church, could easily have become the latest victims in a drug war that has escalated far beyond the control of US and Mexican policymakers.”
It is a drug war fueled by US consumer demand for drugs moving north and a river of iron flowing south, into Mexico, that gives teeth to the carnage — a river fed by US programs such as the $1.5 billion Merida Initiative and the hundreds of millions of dollars in weapons shipments approved via the State Department’s Direct Commercial Sales program.”

Border Patrol agent charged with gun smuggling
“Ricardo Montalvo and Carla Gonzalez-Ortiz, both of El Paso, Texas, were arrested Monday after a federal grand jury returned a 20-count indictment.”
“They’re accused of acting as straw purchasers of at least nine firearms between November 2010 and January 2011, along with more than 100 high-capacity magazines and thousands of high-caliber bullets of the type used by Mexican cartels. They’re also accused of knowing the munitions would be exported illegally to Mexico.

We Have Still Had It Up to Here: The Year a Movement Was Born
“As we approach the one year milestone, it is a moment to reflect on the rapid progress of the movement, already the world’s largest popular movement specifically against the drug war and one that has defined the problem for public opinion and also its solution:  Stop the war. “

Tens of Thousands March in Mexico City (Miguel Tovar/Associated Press) May 08 2011

Sicilia, the poet who has become an unlikely hero in a movement calling for an end to Mexico’s drug war, asked for five minutes of silence at the end of a Sunday rally in this city’s giant central plaza.”
“At the rally Sunday, Mr. Sicilia called on the government to change its strategy in the war, calling first for the resignation of Genaro García Luna, the director of public security and an architect of Mr. Calderón’s battle against the drug gangs. ‘We want to hear a message from the president of the republic that with this resignation, yes, he has heard us,’ Mr. Sicilia said. “

Feds Still on the Hook for Couple’s Missing $200K
“Malaquias and Cayetana Reynoso claim officers with the San Francisco Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives forcefully entered their house on June 18, 2009.”
“ As the officers were leaving, Malaquias Reynoso says he noticed $200,000 in cash had disappeared from his bedroom without a receipt. He allegedly confronted an officer, who ‘responded by pointing his loaded weapon at said plaintiff with the admonition to “go back in that house or I’ll blow you [sic] head off”.’ “
This case needs much more publicity.  Something tells me this event is not an outlier by any means.  How often is ATF (allegedly) doing this?

US Troops May Now Be Coping with Fast and Furious Fallout
“U.S. troops deployed to the US/Mexican border last week may well be there, in part, to deal with the blowback from ATF’s botched Fast and Furious gambit.”
“But one thing seems clear: The thousands of assault rifles and pistols pumped into the Southwest border region as a result of ATF’s botched gun-walking strategy are likely playing some role in prompting the arrival of the US cavalry — in this case, it seems, special operations soldiers.”

Darrell Issa boosts contempt threat vs. Eric Holder
“In a seven-page letter on Tuesday, Issa asked the attorney general to designate an individual in the Justice Department to ‘serve as a conduit for dealing with the contempt proceedings, should the department continue to ignore the committee’s subpoena.’ ”
Issa also accused DOJ of being ‘more concerned with protecting its image through spin control than actually cooperating with Congress.’ ”
My hunch is that this will evolve into a 21st century “Iran-Contra” affair with a twist that sends the scandal far further up the global bankster pyramid than it could ever approach back then. I mean way, way up. I continue to “sense” that the time the 2012 elections should be taking place, none of the current candidates will be at all electable. There is “such a one” in the wings that I just can’t see clearly yet. Just a thought.

Stop The Drug War:
Mexican Army Seizes 15 TONS of Methamphetamine
“Mexican army troops seized an astounding 15 tons of pure methamphetamine in the western state of Jalisco, the Mexican military announced Wednesday night. That’s an amount equal to half of all the meth seized worldwide in 2009 and would have supplied some 13 million individual doses worth over $4 billion on the street in the US.”
” ‘Seizures of this size … could mean one of two things,’ said Antonio Mazzitelli, the regional representative of the UN Office of Drugs and Crime. ‘On one hand, it may be a product that hasn’t been able to be sold, and like any business, when the market is depressed, stockpiles build up,’ he said. ‘Or such large-scale production could suggest an expansion, an attempt by some Mexican groups, the most business-oriented I would say, to move into Latin American and Asian markets.’ “
They should not dismiss a third possibility; that being the massive backing of product volume by the same white-collar (and blackhearted) globalist banking/corp cartels (with their CIA/Mossad/Black ops mil. force) that has financially robbed and raped citizens around the world.

New Lead Surfaces in Cold “House of Death” Drug-War Case
“A new voice from the past has emerged in the House of Death mass-murder case — in which a US government informant is accused of assisting with up to a dozen murders, the bodies of the victims later found buried, covered in lime, in the backyard of a house in Juarez, Mexico.”
This individual is himself a victim of the House of Death and claims to have survived its deadly grip by fractions of an inch after a bullet ripped through his head. And he has now stepped forward, out of the shadows, to tell his story.
Captivating read.  This follows on the heels of the claims made in 2008 by DEA whistleblower Sandy Gonzalez.   [ Reason 09/30/08The House Of Death: An interview with DEA whistleblower Sandy Gonzalez "Three years ago, Gonzalez’s career came to an abrupt end after he blew the whistle in a horrifying case now known as the 'House of Death,' in which Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents stand accused of looking the other way while one of their drug informants participated in torturing and murdering at least a dozen people in the border town of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico."]

Courthouse News Service:Parents Say Gun Shop Sold Murder Weapon to Cartel
“The Terrys did not sue the United States, nor the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The only defendants are the gun shop, Howard, his Jane Doe Wife, and John and Jane Does 1-5 and Black and White Business Entities I-V.
U.S. government agents lost track of about 1,400 weapons sold to straw buyers in ‘Operation Fast and Furious,’ according to news reports.”

SMH:US agents ‘launder’ millions for cartels “The officials said while the DEA conducted such operations in other countries, it began doing so in Mexico only in the past few years. The high-risk activities raise delicate questions about the agency’s effectiveness in bringing down drug kingpins, underscore diplomatic concerns about Mexican sovereignty and blur the line between surveillance and facilitating crime. As it launders drug money, the agency often allows cartels to continue their operations over months or even years before making seizures or arrests.” [emphasis mine]
And you say that TPTB aren’t sunk to their knees in druggy dung here? If this were an honest, moral operation, the cash would have been cut off immediately upon the very first end-of-line bank deposit. But they are not moral…they are not honest. They are thugs working for the 1%. Period, point.

NarcoNews: US Prosecutors Seeking to Prevent Dirty Secrets of Drug War From Surfacing in Cartel Leader’s Case “The information the US government is seeking to withhold from Zambada Niebla’s attorneys, they believe, is likely related to a key figure in the case, an informant, Mexican attorney Humberto Loya Castro, who served as an intermediary between the Sinaloa Cartel leadership and US government agents seeking to obtain information on rival narco-trafficking organizations.”

Narco News: US Government Accused of Seeking to Conceal Deal Cut with Sinaloa ‘Cartel’ “Zambada Niebla, son of one of the leaders of the Sinaloa ‘Cartel,’ arguably the most powerful international narco-trafficking organization on the planet, argues in his criminal case, now pending in federal court in Chicago, that he and the leadership of Mexico’s Sinaloa drug-trafficking organization, were, in effect, working for the U.S. government for years by providing US agents with intelligence about rival drug organizations.”
“In exchange for that cooperation, Zambada Niebla contends, the US government granted the leadership of the Sinaloa ‘Cartel’ immunity from prosecution for their criminal activities — including the narco-trafficking charges he now faces in Chicago.”
This may be the beginning of the end for this corrupted U.S. govt. Our govt needs to come clean NOW as whistleblowers because when we start cleaning house in Washington DC (OWS is the leading edge of this), we will escort them from the halls of Congress to the ICC or Hague.

AJE:
5 arrested over Mexico casino attack
“Five suspected members of the Zetas drug gang have confessed to involvement in an arson attack on a Monterrey casino that killed 52 people, according to Mexican officials.”
“Authorities had offered a $2.4 million reward for information leading to the arrests of those responsible for the arson attack.”

I hope they vetted whoever received that $2.4M reward so that it doesn’t actually get into the very hands that further fund this drug cartel.

AJC: Mexican army, feds raid casinos after arson attack “MONTERREY, Mexico — Hundreds of soldiers and federal agents are raiding casinos in this northern city, authorities said Saturday, two days after an arson attack on a gambling house killed 52 people and stunned a country that had become numb to massacres and beheadings.”
“Mexicans have endured plenty of horrific crimes during their country’s five-year offensive against cartels. But the casino attack had a major impact because many of the victims were from the middle class, and not cartel foot soldiers or migrants who have become the usual targets, said Jorge Chabat, an expert in safety and drug trafficking at the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics. ‘ We’re talking about an attack on a civilian population of a certain income,’ he said. ‘Because who was there was from the middle class, the upper middle class of an important city in Mexico.’ “
So now they act aggressively, when their middle and upper-class funding base is hit? The needless death of an innocent, poor farmer or an immigrant is no less precious. Herein lies social hyprocracy at its root.

Reuters: Guns from U.S. sting found at Mexican crime scenes “Mexican authorities found AK-47 assault rifles, powerful .50 caliber rifles and other weapons as early as November 2009 that were later linked to the U.S. sting operation to trace weapons crossing the border to Mexico, the report said.”
“The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and federal prosecutors had hoped the sting would help them track gun buyers reselling weapons to cartels. But U.S. ATF agents did not see many of the purchases or follow many of the guns after the initial purchaser re-sold them.” Now for the rest of the story , from Narconews

AJE YouTube: Mexican drug cartel patterned after Ancient Knights Templar
A Mexican drug cartel named after a medieval order of knights is winning favour among the community where it works, in the state of Michoacan. The Knights of Templar say they are fighting a war against injustice and poverty, and they have a reputation much stronger than local police. Meanwhile, they traffic drugs and create harsh and violent punishments for those the organisation deems to be bad for the community. Al Jazeera’s Monica Villamizar reports from the city of Apatzingan in Mexico’s Michoacan province.
This video contains graphic images which some users may find disturbing.

Guardian UK:
How a big US bank laundered billions from Mexico’s murderous drug gangs
“As the violence spread, billions of dollars of cartel cash began to seep into the global financial system. But a special investigation by the Observer reveals how the increasingly frantic warnings of one London whistleblower were ignored.”
“During a 22-month investigation by agents from the US Drug Enforcement Administration, the Internal Revenue Service and others, it emerged that the cocaine smugglers had bought the plane with money they had laundered through one of the biggest banks in the United States: Wachovia, now part of the giant Wells Fargo.”
“The authorities uncovered billions of dollars in wire transfers, traveller’s cheques and cash shipments through Mexican exchanges into Wachovia accounts. Wachovia was put under immediate investigation for failing to maintain an effective anti-money laundering programme. Of special significance was that the period concerned began in 2004, which coincided with the first escalation of violence along the US-Mexico border that ignited the current drugs war.”

07/16/10 Madcow Morning News:
“Wachovia’s nasty habit of moving money around for Mexican drug smugglers provided the clean cash necessary for the purchase of a still-undisclosed number of American planes, including the DC-9, which cumulatively flew at least 22 tons of cocaine, which put the massive drug bust aboard the DC9 back in the news.”
“The (Bloomberg) story of the willing participation in laundering drug money by what was then America’s 4th largest bank puts a welcome spotlight back on a case with a number of troubling and so-far unanswered questions about two American planes from St Petersburg busted in Mexico carrying 5.5 and 4 tons of cocaine… with no repercussions to their American owners.”

06/29/10

Bloomberg: Banks Financing Mexico Gangs Admitted in Wells Fargo Deal “Wachovia, it turns out, had made a habit of helping move money for Mexican drug smugglers. Wells Fargo & Co., which bought Wachovia in 2008, has admitted in court that its unit failed to monitor and report suspected money laundering by narcotics traffickers — including the cash used to buy four planes that shipped a total of 22 tons of cocaine.”
“Wachovia’s blatant disregard for our banking laws gave international cocaine cartels a virtual carte blanche to finance their operations,” says Jeffrey Sloman, the federal prosecutor who handled the case.

Change Org Criminal Justice:
The Real Culprit Behind Mexico’s Drug War: U.S. Dollars “Lying directly across the border from Juarez, El Paso is one Texas city that’s directly impacted by the drug war. El Paso isn’t known for being the most liberal city in the country, but it’s taking strides toward the adoption of smarter drug policy. In a meeting on drug violence this month, for example, the City Council discussed a resolution that called for the legalization and regulation of marijuana. The measure, which would be largely symbolic, shows El Paso is ready to tackle the problem at its roots: U.S. users financing Mexican cartels.”
“When will Washington follow suit?”
Well stated. Since the Israeli attack on the Mava Marmari in May 2010, Israel has been forced to loosen its flow of goods into Gaza , which is shutting down the tunnel smuggling. Allow freedom of commerce and legalization of marijuana, and the black market ends.
