Mayor McGinn endorses Occupy Seattle protests “Occupy Seattle got the endorsement of Mayor Mike

Seattle Mayor McGinn endorses Occupy Seattle protests Oct 10 2011

McGinn Monday.  The elected leader of Seattle is now fully behind this movement.  That’s the meaning of his speech Monday in Westlake Park to the protesters.  He joins a growing number of politicians who are now aligning themselves with the movement and thereby giving it more legitimacy. ”
“Earlier Monday, the Mayor gave the media a preview of what he was going to say.  You could just feel the “protester” in him coming out. ‘Of course there’s anger out there,’ he said.  ‘And, of course, we need to do something different.  And that’s going to mean a whole lot of elected officials at every level of government are going to have to start re-examining some assumptions about how we do business and who we are looking out for.’ ” [emphasis mine]

Seattle Times: Occupy Wall Street – Sunshine, speeches, 2 arrests “Hundreds of peaceful protesters rallied and marched through downtown Seattle as part of an ongoing Occupy Seattle demonstration against what they called corporate domination of America, with crowds approaching 1,000 supporters at midday.”
“Jim Kelley, 49, of Lake Stevens grabbed a bullhorn at the bank plaza, even though he says he has never protested before, to talk about how his savings were wiped out. ‘”I used to have a quarter-million saved up in investments,’ he said in an interview later. Hard times have reduced his retirement savings to below $100,000, and he’s been laid off twice recently from information-technology jobs, he said. Alongside Kelley stood his daughter, Tamara, wearing a purple graduation gown and holding a sign ‘I went to UW and all I got was debt.’ “

Seattle Times:  Occupy Seattle protesters clash with police
“Seattle police swept through Westlake Park on Wednesday, making 25 arrests as they clashed with protesters and hauled away tents set up by the Occupy Seattle movement.”
“The hours-long showdown — in one of downtown’s most popular gathering spots — began just after lunchtime, as some demonstrators refused a city order to remove the tents.”

Coverage by Los Angeles Times:  Occupy Seattle protests beset first by rain, now by loss of tents

Whomever is directing the Seattle PD/CIA/FBI to carry out these arrests, especially so brutally, just do not get it!  This is not a bunch of people simply protesting.  This is a step-by-step OCCUPATION spreading across the country - The People have had enough.  The govt has delegitimized itself by taking orders from banks/corps/mil and not We The People, so We The People  are reclaiming our tax-paid property!   Period, point.
