HuffPost:
US Davis Pepper Spray Investigation Report Released, Campus Police Condemned For Their Actions
“The report, released Wednesday, said Lt. John Pike’s decision to use pepper spray on seated protesters was “not authorized by policy.” They also said there were multiple instances of other campus police officers, who were unnamed in the report, that were able to calmly walk arrestees through the crowd to a patrol car without the use of force.”
“The UC Davis campus police officers’ union tried to halt the public disclosure of the report, citing privacy concerns. A judge ordered that some names could be withheld, but the report should be released to the public.”      Read the whole report here.
  Right on!

Courthouse News Service:
Pepper-Sprayed Students Sue UC Davis
“SACRAMENTO (CN) – Nineteen UC Davis students claim in Federal Court that campus police unconstitutionally dispersed their “occupy”-style protest with pepper spray and targeted students for arrest.”
“The students demand punitive, statutory and compensatory damages for violation of the California and U.S. Constitutions, California civil code violations and false arrest. They are represented by Sacramento attorney Mark Merin and Alan Schlosser of the American Civil Liberties Union. “

SFGate:
Occupy SF regroups after raid, clashes with police
“About a half dozen Occupy protesters were arrested and later released during the evening, but police eventually pulled back after demonstrators refused to leave the plaza. The group greeted the police retreat with cheers and chants of ‘our park’ and ‘cops are the 99 percent.’ “
More than 100 police officers, along with sheriff’s deputies, firefighters and public works crews, converged on the camp at the foot of Market Street early Wednesday and gave protesters five minutes to clear out. The city took action after police and city officials stopped being able to communicate with the protesters.”
Since when should police be “communicating” what THEY want with protesters exercising their right to free public assembly—without prejudice?  The police are part of the 99% and should be joining, not suppressing at the will of banksters, this encampment.

Time:
Occupy San Francisco Starts Its Own Credit Union
“Long term, members are thinking big, with plans for on-site cafes and commercial kitchen space, plus a food co-op. So far, they’ve gained the support of two members of the city’s board of supervisors, Eric Mar and John Avalos, according to financial industry trade publication the Credit Union Times.”
This will be the economic trend of the near future.  Bank locally, shop locally, support your community co-ops.

Police pepper spraying and arresting students at UC Davis “Title says all. During peacefully Occupy Movement, police came in to tear down tents and proceeded to arrest students who stood in their way. Once students peacefully demanded the release of the arrested, a police officer unnecessarily pepper sprays the students to open a path for the rest of the officers
*UPDATE*
The officer who sprayed the students was UC Davis Police Lt. John Pike
Lieutenant John Pike – (530) 752-3989 – japikeiii@ucdavis.edu”

The absolutely insane manner in which police around the country are attacking peaceful protesters is outrageous.  Police forces around this country have been militarized by Homeland Security, and this is going to stop The  mission of the OWS movement is to bring to account Wall Street and our bought government but it appears that we first need to break through their first line of defense – stormtrooper thugs.
WE NEED TO LINE UP AT THE WALKWAY TO THE CONGRESS AND GIVE THIS SAME SILENT TREATMENT AND SHAME TO CONGRESS MEMBERS.
NYT has filed a lawsuit against the DOJ in October 2011 (Times sues Justice Department over “secret” interpretation of Patriot Act”
Senator  Wyden (D-Ore.) “referenced secret elements to the Patriot Act and offered an amendment to make public the details that had previously been withheld. “  This is what Sen. Wyden said: “I want to deliver a warning this afternoon: When the American people find out how their government has secretly interpreted the Patriot Act, they will be stunned and they will be angry,’ said Wyden on May 25.”  READ COPY OF THE SUIT

Occupy Cal video: Police brutally beat, arrest Berkeley students “U.S. police in riot gear have clashed with student protesters at the University of California, Berkeley, after they refused to dismantle their camp. Tents were erected following a march against tuition fee increases for students – which was part of the broader Occupy Wall Street movement. Several activists were arrested, some were beaten by police with batons.”

He says he was beaten by police close to the Occupy Oakland camp, but despite suffering agonising pain, did not reach hospital until 18 hours later.”
This is going to bring hundreds more military vets out to OWS.

Update:  11/28/11  USA Today:   Ex-Marine hurt in Oakland on road to recovery
“He wears a neck brace and sometimes stammers, stutters or gropes for words. “My brain is starting to work better,” he said, “but it’s frustrating, because I still have to think about how to make the sounds come out.” His doctors say he won’t be fluent for months.” (Video interview with article)

IntelHub: Police Infiltrators and Agent Provacateurs at Occupy Oakland, Documented Fact

I watched the live streaming and at one point, a report came to the camerman that some protesters had caught one and identified him as a police agent provacateur  (one apparently recognized him from an earlier police line)  after he threw a brick through a window.   No, MSM surely will not report that.  It may explain by OPD said that no arrests were made” regarding the vandal damage…ummm?
Peaceful protests –> tear gas, rubber bullets.   Vandals–> no arrests.  What’s wrong with this picture.

Buzzflash Blog:
Federal Judge Threatens Oakland Police Department With Court Takeover Over Ongoing Abuses
“This federal consent decree is separate from the accord that the OPD was compelled to reach in 2004, which prohibits the use of potentially lethal and harmful suppression techniques against peaceful crowds, which BuzzFlash at Truthout pointed out they violated last week.”
“There’s a thin blue line in law enforcement between enforcing the law and breaking the law. It’s clear to US District Court Judge Henderson that the OPD keeps crossing that line.”

Update 10/29/11:  OCCUPY MARINES SEEKS PROSECUTION FOR OAKLAND ATTACK

Scott Olsen Tribute; Howard Jordan, You Resign “We have asked this generation to fight three wars. They did so, honorably. Many, many of our veterans are at these protests, again, fighting for their great nation. Just like the honorable Sgt. Shamar Thomas, who stood up to the NYPD, these war heroes deserve our utmost respect. Mr. Olsen’s shooting will hopefully inspire many police to mutiny if they are ever called upon to use lethal force again. This is a shameful day for America.”

Censored News: Occupy Oakland Photo Brings Global Solidarity  ”OAKLAND, Calif. — When this photo by Justin Warren was posted of Occupy Oakland on Wednesday night — after the violent repression by Oakland police on Tuesday night — it was retweeted by Egyptian activists, and brought solidarity from people around the world.”

Boing Boing: Egyptians march from Tahrir to U.S. Embassy in solidarity with OccupyOakland “As they vowed earlier this week to do, Egyptian pro-democracy protesters marched from Tahrir square to the U.S. Embassy today to march in support of Occupy Oakland—and against the type of police brutality witnessed in Oakland on Tuesday night, and commonly experienced in Egypt.”
“In this post, photos from Egyptian blogger Mohammed Maree, who is there at the march live-tweeting these snapshots. All photos are his. The larger demonstration back at Tahrir was about issues closer to home: Egyptians are demanding that the military transfer power quickly to a representative civilian government.”
“Maree is a journalist with Egytimes.org. He is also a human rights activist and a veterinarian.”

10/25/11 p.m.

On 10/25/11 in the evening, in response to the unconscionable raid on about 40 peaceful protesters in the park during the morning, about 1000 residents/supporters marched, bringing their children with them.  Below videos show some of the response they got.    It was like Jolly Green Giant coming after Kermit the frog; it was that surreal.
I have watched both the a.m. and p.m. developments almost in full and unedited.  I personally did not see any protesters throwing anything, although this may have happened confronting such threatening intimidation.   Even local media reporter on the ground reported crowd being “very peaceful.”  Mainstream Media certainly will cut, edit, and slant to meet the wishes of their Masters but unedited, real-time viewing  is fortunately available in the independent media these days.
City Hall/OPD heads have got to roll over this brutality.  ThePowersThatBe are clearly trying to provoke the protesters into doing something violent to provide an excuse for putting a muzzle on OWS.  Imperative that ALL OWS protesters REMAIN PEACEFUL—don’t give them what they want.

Here is the narrative given with the above video of the woman

OccupyMARINES ""Single navyman faces riot police after they fire tear gas. he holds a copy of the US constitution #occupyoakland" - Find out his name and make sure this HERO is commended for his SELFLESS BRAVERY!"

“After police moved a metal barricade onto a woman’s foot she asked them to move it off, she asked them twice. They refused to move it so she pushed on the barricade to free her foot. When she did that the cops went crazy grabbing for her and started beating on her. Another cop shouted “grab them” and cops just started reaching, pushing and hitting anyone in their reach. They got one other woman and started beating on her. You are hear the woman in the background screaming as they drag her across the concrete and continue to hit her with their fists and night sticks.”

Occupy Oakland Satellite Camp, Snow Park, gets raided by OPD

I watched this horrific, unedited event this a.m. on Livestream.  It was unconscionable and disgusting.  At about 3:30 a.m. (PDT).  The “police” swooped in on motorcycles, on foot, and in the air – helcopters!  An LRAD (sound weapon) was brought in.  ALL OF THIS for about 40 unarmed and sleepy protesters!  I understand that a former college dean was among the protesters.
This is NOT THE AMERICA I want my children and descendants to see!  Please get out to your local OWS location if at all possible!  We need to take back this country!

Occupy SF protesters gain support
“At 101 Market Street people left food and other items to show their support.  Wednesday, hundreds of people marched against what they call the social and economic inequalities in this country and the influence of corporate money on the government.”
“Marianne Koch of Golden Gate University says most Americans can identify with the Occupy Wall Street movement.”

Occupy Sacramento participants festive, persistent
“The Occupy Sacramento movement took on a festival-like atmosphere Saturday evening at Cesar Chavez Plaza, with more than 300 people milling, lounging, singing and waving signs critical of Wall Street and corporate America.”

10/06/11 SFPD Ordered to Attack the Peaceful Encampment at Occupy SF “Officer Pascua (#4014) said to multiple Occupiers that “[He] I can’t wait to get the chance to bust your face in.  Another officer struck a woman last night. Let’s hold him accountable.”
“We saw multiple officers with tears rolling down their cheeks. We could tell that they wanted to join us.”

Occupy Sacramento supporter welcomes Tea Party, but rejects corporate shills like FreedomWorks

Whomever is directing the SFPD/CIA/FBI to carry out these arrests, especially so brutally, just do not get it!  This is not a bunch of people simply protesting.  This is a step-by-step OCCUPATION spreading across the country - The People have had enough.  The govt has delegitimized itself by taking orders from banks/corps/mil and not We The People, so We The People  are reclaiming our tax-paid property!   Period, point.

Above Top Secret (ATS) forum has topic: Something going on at Occupy San Fransisco and Occupy St Louis

My favorite comment there so far:

It’s funny, I dont see anything in the constitution about requiring permits…… Infact  lets look at it shall we.. ” 1st Amendment – Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Isnt that what the cops took an oath to protect and uphold?”

Occupy Wall Street veteran gears up for ‘Occupy Sacramento’  The U.S. Navy veteran turned anti-war activist joined thousands of others in New York on Sept. 17 to protest what they see as corporations’ pervasive power and influence and to turn Wall Street into ‘a center of dissent,’ he said.”
“Garza, 26, a pre-law student at Brandman University, returned home this week, where plans are already afoot to ‘Occupy Sacramento.’ “

Occupy San Francisco march down Market Street

SFBG Com: On the streets with Occupy San Francisco “Sup. John Avalos, a progressive mayoral candidate who spoke at the rally, is pushing legislation to create a municipal bank in San Francisco, one that would invest far more money in local projects and small businesses than Bank of America, which manages most of the city’s money.”
“We have to figure out new ways to use our local dollars to help our economy,” Avalos told us. “The message here is we’re pulling our dollars out of these banks unless they help us.”
