Occupy Albuquerque – Protester arrested ” Today, Occupy Albuquerque combined efforts with an Anti-War protest as they marched down Central Ave. The local Albuquerque Police Department maintained decorum and
actually assisted with traffic control as the march led on. Once the march returned to Coyote Camp, the police arrived and arrested an individual. However, once back at Coyote Camp, the police arrived and arrested an individual. “
Although a cold has kept me away from getting more pics, etc. this week, I was close enough to this protest to hear the helicopter overhead. My neighbor investigated for me and gives an eyewitness account of what he saw:
“On the walk up I saw about 25-30 police cruisers staged at Copper & Truman ready to go, plus 7 more across the street in another parking lot. Talked to a few people at Central/San Mateo — the main protest had started off much like last week, but during the march east on Central apparently a splinter group decided to do some mischief.”“Protesters had ‘invaded’ four banks along Central — Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Bank of Albuquerque, and Bank of the West — then marched south to Walmart where they stormed into the store there. During the bank invasions they intimidated bank tellers or anyone else around, screaming and spitting at them, same at Walmart. Not smart.”“Then I witnessed protesters coming from Walmart back to the intersection, where they marched in a circle in the middle of the intersection (Central & San Mateo) for a few minutes before settling down on the northeast corner in a ragtag group with some walking out into the street against the lights.”
Members of the peaceful, non-violent OccupyAlbuquerque local movement are having talks with some of these activists to ensure that this remains a peaceful occupation—agressive activity not wanted. The local employees are also the 99% so give them positive energy!

“Occupy Albuquerque was a peaceful success. Several of us arrived early to begin setting up, and very quickly many more joined. At one point in time, we counted 197 people – and then, almost at the blink of an eye, the numbers nearly doubled. ”
