When I moved into my new place in New Mexico, I found that my neighbor on the right was a Catholic Nun. Over time, it was interesting to me that while she would have “the needy” come to her home for prayer sessions, I would be in the place next door receiving clients who requested a Reiki (energy healing) session. I wondered how that combination of meditative energy would play out in the Spiritual world; she an “intercessor” and me more directly. One thing I discovered was that anything negative that occurred in the neighborhood, her belongings and mine would remain untouched. We had a rash of auto thefts and property damage over a few weeks time in our neighborhood and interestingly enough, neither her car nor mine were ever touched out of the many that suffered damage immediately around us. I also noticed that those who expressed their fears by putting bars on their windows tended to have the most negative things occur. My thought was that when we live in fear we attract negative events.
One day, a very pleasant Jehovah Witness came to our doors and of course gave us a “Watchtower” booklet, as usual. There we were, the three of us in a common courtyard, talking about our own personal views on Spiritual matters. We did not criticize, preach to, or scold one another. We actually found that once we dropped the ”titles”, we realized that at the Heart of these diverse belief systems was a desire to find the Truth; of course, we three were women who had that bond in common as well. When I look back on that discussion, now that I have become aware of Congressman Dr. Ron Paul, I can imagine Dr. Paul standing with us and enjoying our Liberty and Freedom to pursue our Spiritual beliefs without harrassment and without judgment.
Dr. Paul is doing the same thing with our political views. He is bringing together not only traditional Republicians (sans NeoCons), Democrats, Libertarians, and even Green Party supporters, he is sending the message to us that by dropping the labels and coming together, we can ultimately find Truth together and realize that we all want the same things; Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.
The nun eventually moved and in her stead I now have a Native American Shaman as a neighbor. I sometimes hear his drum beats and chants, and I listen silently and feel his own path to Truth. American life under the leadership of Ron Paul will do more than restore our Constitution…it will restore our sense of unity in a world that feels so disconnected.
